Water purifiers as we all know, are those lives saving
devices that purify contaminated and dirty water. Pollutants are increasingly
making our water unfit for direct consumption. Nearly 90 percent of the world’s
water supply is contaminated, considered unfit for human consumption, according
to Leading Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Impurities present in drinking water can be classified
into:-
1) Suspended Impurities:- Physical impurities which
remain suspended in water such as dust, sand, dead insects and harmful
micro-organisms like bacteria, viruses and cyst can be termed as suspended
impurities . They lead to discoloration of water and may also cause diseases.
2)Dissolved Impurities: -These are the chemical
impurities which get dissolved and mixed with water. They cannot be removed by
simple filtration techniques and require advance technology for removal. These
impurities include chemicals, rust, pesticides, insecticides and salts of
metals like arsenic, fluoride, iron, calcium etc.
Water purifiers can be sorted out by many characteristics.
1) By their installation types i.e. wall mountable,
under the counter or just table top.
2) By the purification technology they use i.e. Ro,
UV, UF or a combination of these methods.
3) By the use of electricity or not.
4) By the purification
5) By the storage capacity and others to name a few
However the use of portable water purifiers seems
fascinating and useful to say the least. Portable
Water purifiers are that purifier that purify water but can be moved from
one place to another and do not have the need to be mounted or installed at one
single place. Recently India was hit by cyclones and devastating floods,
causing flooding and power outage for thousands of people for a few weeks. But
during the storm and the floods, the need of clean drinking water was imminent
and more important than ever. But with no power rendering the electric water purifiers useless and
the relief finding it hard to distribute clean water the portable water
purifier play a very important part in avoiding water borne diseases.
The water Portable water purifiers can also help in the
clean India campaign and help conserve our planet. Suppose you and your family
or friends are going for a picnic or trekking on the weekends, water in large
quantities will be need in that case. Buying water bottles will not only burn a
hole in your pocket, the plastic bottles when empty, litter around causing
filth. These plastic bottles also pollute the environment when burnt or not
disposed properly. These bottles can also act as breeding ground for mosquitoes
if water is accumulated in them. These factors certainly make portable water
purifiers the more important to use.
However their basic function is not affected due to the fact
that they do not use electricity. Take for example the Kent Gold +water
purifier that is portable and filters variety of contaminants, including
chemical and biological contaminants from the water. The Gold +water purifier
by Kent has a total water storage capacity of 20 liters, 10 liters of purified
water and the other 10 liters of raw water. The Gold + water purifier is a
non-electric water purifier which doesn't require electricity to purify the
water. You can place this water filter anywhere you want to as it doesn't
require a plug point to connect it to. The Ultra purification method filters
dirt, dust and sand particles from the water and removes foul odour, taste and
colour of the water.
